PROFESSIONAL ARTS EXPERIENCE AND RELATED AFFILIATIONS

For nearly 20 years, Crowe enjoyed a substantial career in Arts Administration for many of the large and mid-sized cultural institutions and alternative art organizations in New York City, such as The Jewish Museum, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the New Museum, and the Drawing Center. Throughout this time, she served as a presenter, facilitator, and panelist for a wide variety of local, county and state government agencies arts and funding panels. These agencies included the New York State Council on the Arts Visual Arts Program; the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Artist Grants in Sculpture/Installation; the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs’ Percent for Art Program and Community Arts Development Fund; the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Regrant Program in the Visual Arts; and the Queens Council on the Arts’ Decentralization Program and Individual Artists Program. After moving upstate to Kingston in 2005, she was asked to serve as a panelist for the Ulster County Cultural Services and Promotion Fund administrated by Arts Mid-Hudson and did so from 2011 to 2015. Crowe also served as a juror for the Thayer Fellowship for the Arts and The Patricia Kerr Ross Award to a promising creative artist graduating from the State University of New York from 2009 to 2019. In addition, she served the boards of several arts organizations, Lower East Side Printshop, Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, and the Women’s Studio Workshop.

After retiring from her Arts Administration career with plans to move her home and studio upstate in 2004, Crowe began her 16-year teaching career in the Studio Art Program at Queens College, City University of New York. As an Assistant Professor of Art, she was responsible for developing and teaching studio classes in sculpture, drawing and fundamentals of art. In addition, she also advised graduate students as an Artist/Teacher in a low-residency program for the Vermont College at Norwich University (2007-2011) and later Vermont College of Fine Art (2020-2022). Before that she was a Visiting Artist Lecturer/Instructor at Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire and gave a series of welding workshops in the Studio Art program at Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York, and numerous visiting artist lectures at colleges in the Northeast.

Before teaching and working as an arts professional, Crowe worked in the book publishing industry and later for a commercial real estate and construction management firm in mid-town Manhattan in the 1970s and early 1980s.
